Form Engagement
Introduction
Form engagement tracks the visitor lifecycle from the moment they view the form, to the moment they submit it. You can see where visitors drop off, and how long they spend on each part of the form.
The form engagement report can be accessed via Analytics → Form engagement. If you toggle into test mode you can view the engagement data captured during the test mode.
Field engagement
This report tracks form engagement on a field-level.
This report starts off with the total form views for the selected period. Visitors who view the form but don’t proceed will drop off at the first stage of this report.
For each field the report then shows the average time spent, and then the percent of visitors who dropped off at that field.
Step engagement
This report tracks form engagement on a step-level.
This report starts off with the total form views for the selected period. Visitors who view the form but don’t proceed will drop off at the first stage of this report.
For each step the report then shows the average time spent, and then the percent of visitors who dropped off at that step.
Notes
Unaccounted
Some drop-offs are noted as unaccounted. For the field engagement report this usually means fields that have been deleted since the data was collected.
For the step engagement report this usually means steps that have been deleted since the data was collected, or when the form was started but the visitor did not interact with a specific step.
When are views counted?
We count a view when the form appears on the screen for the visitor. This means that a view is not counted in some scenarios like:
The form is embedded towards the bottom of the page and the visitor does not scroll down to see it.
The form is embedded as a popup form but the visitor clicks on a button to open the form.
Repeat visitors
Formcrafts does not store session data, so we cannot track repeat visitors. This means that if a visitor views the form multiple times, each view is counted as a unique view. This allows us to give you engagement data but without asking for cookie consent, since we don’t store or track any personal data for analytics.
